Qianyi Rose Sun

Musicology & AI Researcher | Data Scientist | Flautist | Inclusivity Advocate

I works at the intersection of musicology, artificial intelligence, and data science, with a mission to make creative practices more inclusive
Currently, I am pursuing my master's degree in Music Technology at Georgia Tech, where I am an active member of the Computational and Cognitive Musicology Lab. My current research centers on developing interpretable evaluation metrics for AI-generated music, drawing from principles in music theory and perception.
I received my Bachelor’s in Music Technology from Georgia Tech in 2022. I worked as an undergraduate research assistant in the Robotic Musicianship Lab, where I worked on FOREST and the Drumming Arm.
As a traditional Chinese Guqin player, I love to explore how technology can facilitate the composition and consumption of understudied music traditions. My broad interest in music and engineering has led me to various projects in robotics, computational ethnomusicology, digital signal processing, and interactive systems. I am also a flautist with a repertoire in classical, rock and pop, and experimental music.
I serve as the President of Women in Music Tech, where I foster a supportive community for women to exchange knowledge, build connections, and thrive in this dynamic field.
