Watch our drummer, Jason Barnes, and more about this accessible technology--
The Drumming Arm is a quasi-passive transradial prosthesis designed to restore drumstick grip control for amputee drummers. A compact motor with low rotor resistance driven by EMG is implemented in the prosthesis to support real-time drum performances. My contribution includes the design of the experiments to evaluate its grip restoration functionality, carrying out the experiments, collecting and analyzing video and audio data, calculating and graphing the result.
